Mary Mackay is a highly experienced and dedicated professional with over 30 years of expertise as a certified American Sign Language interpreter, specializing in legal settings from 1992 to 2022. Throughout her distinguished career, she has made significant contributions to the deaf community in Maine, including serving on the board of the Maine State Chapter of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
Mary has also held the position of Treasurer for the Maine Center for Deafness and directed the Maine Communication Access Program. In these roles, she managed critical initiatives such as the Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program, Maine Relay Services, and the State of Maine Emergency Notification Program, enhancing communication accessibility for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
With 40 years of diverse experience in medical and mental health fields, Mary has demonstrated unwavering commitment and versatility. Beyond her professional achievements, she enjoys traveling and is an avid dog trainer. She resides in Portland with her six dogs and her beloved African gray parrot, Izzy.
